Time is valuable. With Caremark's Mail Service prescription drug program, members can get their prescriptions delivered by mail directly to their homes in plain, tamper-evident packaging. On behalf of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, Caremark assists in the administration of the program. Caremark is an independent company that provides pharmacy benefits management. When members order by mail, they can get up to a 90-day supply of medication for one low copayment — with no claim forms to file and no waiting for reimbursement! And they'll receive the medication, in the right amount, at the right cost and the right time. Please note: Not all of our members have mail-order prescription drug benefits. Members should check their health plan details or ask their benefits coordinator to make sure they have mail-order benefits.
Getting started is easy ... with three convenient options!
Option 1: Members can call Caremark at 866-465-2496 for FastStart service. A Caremark FastStart representative will complete a mail service order form and contact the doctor for the prescription. Members will need their member ID number, the name of the drug, the doctor's name and phone number and the shipping address. Members will also need to provide a credit card number to pay for the mail-order prescription, along with the expiration date for the card.
Option 2: Members can give the doctor's office the toll-free FastStart physician number, 1-800-378-5697, and let the doctor call in the prescription. For faster processing, members should give the doctor their member ID number, the mailing address and the phone number. Once the doctor calls in the prescription, Caremark will contact the member to get payment information.
Option 3: Members can ask their doctors for a new prescription for up to a three-month supply of medication, with three refills, if appropriate. Once they get the prescription, they should print and complete the mail service order form. They should mail the order form, along with the original prescription(s) and payment, to the address at the bottom of the form.
Caremark's mail-order pharmacy will process the order and send the medication to members via U.S. mail or Federal Express, along with instructions for future refills, if there are any. Members should allow up to 14 days for delivery from the time they mail their orders.
Refills Are Simple If members already enjoy the benefits of prescription home delivery, it's simple to order medication refills. They can request refills from Caremark by logging on to Caremark's Web site. If they haven't registered with Caremark under their current coverage, they should click on the "Not Registered" link. They will then need to enter their current member ID number, name and date of birth and other personal information to register. They can also call Caremark at 888-963-7290 to request refills, 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
