Our 2011 network of Medicare Advantage dental providers is changing effective August 1, 2011. A new Dental Provider Directory will replace the one dated January 1, 2011 to December 31, 2011, and will provide members with more dental providers for their dental care.
If a member is currently receiving care from a dentist in the old directory, we will continue to process claims as in-network until the member is able to transition to a provider in the new directory. For assistance with this transition, please instruct members to contact Avesis at 1-877-225-7460; TTY/TDD users may call 1-800-735-8583. On behalf of BlueCross, Avesis will provide transition assistance. Avesis is an independent company. Its hours of operation are Monday through Friday 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. Eastern Standard Time.
Members are not required to use an in-network dental provider and may get benefits for covered services from an out-of-network dental provider. However, if the member has not previously received care from the out-of-network provider, these claims will be processed at the out-of-network benefit level. The directory has more information on filing out-of-network claims.
We will begin mailing member letters and a new Dental Provider Directory on May 20, 2011. This new directory will be available online for downloading and ordering at that time.

Please destroy any old Dental Provider Directories dated January 1, 2011 that you may have in stock no later than June 30, 2011.
