Under 65 Plans Rate Change

September 13, 2012

For the past three years, we have made no changes to our rates, other than the standard rate adjustments for age increases. We have worked hard during that time to make sure our members have access to quality care, even as medical costs rose. Unfortunately, we are no longer able to avoid a change. On November 1, 2012, we will raise the premiums on our individual under 65 policies.

Why now?
This increase is related to a trend we have experienced regarding member use of medical services. Our data shows our members are using more medical services this year than they did last year. We expect that trend to continue in 2013. This means we have to adjust our rates to keep up with the constantly increasing cost of health care.

When we will notify members?
We will notify members next week. Members who have the optional drug card will also receive an increase in their drug rates. We have attached generic copies of the letter.

What if I ran an individual proposal in Accel-A-RateSM for an effective date of November 1 or later?

We are in the process of updating rates in Accel-A-Rate. When you open a saved proposal and make changes to it or submit a proposal rated prior to the rate update, Accel-A-Rate will recalculate and display the new rate.

Where can I find new rate books?

You can download rate books from Storefront beginning today.

What about approved applications with effective dates of November 1 or later?
New members will receive a welcome letter informing them of their new rate.
