Everyone loves tax season. Wait. What’s that, you say? No one loves tax season? That’s a shocking bit of information. We thought everyone loved filling out long and complicated forms, or at least paying someone else to fill them out for them.
In all seriousness, tax season is here. The new health care reform regulations regarding W-2s do not apply this year. Next year, employers who issue more than 250 W-2s will be required to report the cost of health insurance coverage on their employees’ W-2s. Employers who issue less than 250 W-2s are exempt until further notice. If such an employer wants to report the cost, they should comply with the IRS requirements.
