One of the most effective long-term ways to manage the rising cost of healthcare is to encourage your employees to get regular exercise. That is why BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina has created the WalkingWorks® Challenge to help you encourage your employees to increase their physical activity and improve their health through walking.
The WalkingWorks Challenge is a plan to help you motivate your employees to make brisk-paced walking a part of their everyday routines. WalkingWorks helps your employees set personal walking goals based on their current levels of fitness and health, so it’s right for everyone.
Note: Individuals with disabilities may participate by logging miles traveled in a wheelchair, laps they swim in a pool or time spent performing a comparable physical activity.
To help you plan and launch a WalkingWorks Challenge for your employees, BlueCross has developed a WalkingWorks Employer Planning Guide and CD Toolkit. The toolkit includes print-ready templates for a large collection of program and promotional materials that you can use to:
- Educate your employees about the health benefits of walking
- Publicize your WalkingWorks Challenge
- Encourage your employees to participate
