BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina now offers providers a new way to enter professional claims through the Web – in as little as 20 seconds! Superbill in Provider My Insurance Manager allows providers to store their most commonly used procedures, prices, and diagnoses and then file claims with clicks rather than keystrokes. A claim status response appears on the Web screen seconds after the "submit claim" button is clicked.
"We are pleased to offer this enhancement to South Carolina medical professionals since it places greater speed and control over their accounts receivable at their fingertips," noted David Boucher, assistant vice president of Health Care Services. The BlueCross plan has already received more than 2.75 million real-time claims through its Web site and expects the Superbill enhancement to significantly increase this volume in the near term.
Providers log into My Insurance Manager, BlueCross's free, secure online application for healthcare providers, and create and store their Superbills online in their profiles. Superbill offers many options for customization – from one column to four – and there is no limit to the number of categories of procedures and diagnoses that providers can add to the form. Once a provider builds the online Superbill, he or she files claims by simply checking the procedure and diagnosis codes, and then hitting "Submit." By using the Superbill with My Insurance Manager’s Patient Directory, providers can avoid most of the keying associated with filing an online claim.
Superbill claim entry is an alternative (but not a replacement) to existing HCFA-1500 Web claims entry – which is still available for secondary and corrected claims. View these demos to learn how to create a Superbill and file a Superbill claim.
