2009 Plan Information

Are your clients looking for a Medicare drug plan with more coverage? With MedBlue RxSM Plus, they'll enjoy an open formulary, which includes every CMS-approved medication for their peace of mind, and $8 generic drugs in the coverage gap.

Your clients can join MedBlue Rx Plus if they are a South Carolina resident entitled to Medicare Part A and/or enrolled in Medicare Part B. Eligible individuals may only enroll in one Medicare prescription drug plan at a time and may not be enrolled in a Medicare Advantage HMO or PPO plan that offers drug coverage.

Comparing Options

You and your clients can compare MedBlue Rx Plus and the original Medicare plan using our Summary of Benefits. The charts in these booklets list some important health benefits. For each benefit, you can see what our plan covers and what the original Medicare plan covers. Please note the Summary of Benefits doesn't list every service that we cover or list every limitation or exclusion. To get a complete list of our benefits, please review the Evidence of Coverage.

Premiums

The monthly premium for MedBlue Rx Plus is $60.00.

Pharmacy Network

BlueCross has formed a network of pharmacies that members must use to receive MedBlue Rx Plus plan benefits. MedBlue Rx Plus may not pay for members' prescriptions if they use an out-of-network pharmacy, except in non-routine circumstances as outlined in the Evidence of Coverage. For an up-to-date list of the pharmacies in our network, see our Pharmacy Directory, or search by pharmacy name, state or ZIP code using the Pharmacy Locator.

Prescription Drug Formulary

MedBlue Rx Plus uses a formulary (list of covered prescription drugs). We may occasionally make changes to the formulary. Members will receive 60-days' notice of the removal or change in the tier placement of any drug on our formulary. For the most current information, see our Comprehensive Formulary. To search for a specific drug on this formulary, simply open the formulary and select the Search button in the task bar at the top of the page. Then type the name of the drug in the indicated field and select Search.

Transferring To Another Part D Plan

Members can switch plans during the open enrollment period every year from November 15 to December 31. Medicare may also allow members to change plans under special circumstances, such as if they permanently move out of their plan’s service area; if they get help from their state Medicaid program paying Medicare premiums and/or cost sharing; if they qualify for extra help paying for prescription drugs; or if they enter, live in, or leave a nursing home. To compare Medicare Part D plans offered in a specific area, visit the Medicare Prescription Drug Plan Finder.
