Basic Drug List

The Basic Drug List applies to our BlueSpectrumSM Basic plans. Not sure if this drug list applies to your benefit plan? Log into My Insurance ManagerSM and select My Pharmacy ManagerSM for your personal information.

The Basic Drug List includes all generic drugs. It also includes some preferred and non-preferred brand-name drugs. A group of doctors and pharmacists chooses these drugs to add to the Basic Drug List.

If a brand-name drug is not on the Basic Drug List, BlueSpectrum Basic plans do not cover it. For these drugs, you will pay 100 percent of our special discounted rates or the pharmacy's charge, whichever is less. If you are using a drug that is not on the Basic Drug List, we encourage you to talk to your doctor about generic and brand-name drugs that are on the List. Since there may be more than one drug that treats your health condition, you and your doctor may decide you should change to a drug that is on the Basic Drug List. You can use our drug lookup tool to search for a specific drug. (This link leads to a third party Web site. Updates

The Basic Drug List is subject to change at any time, but we generally make updates on a quarterly basis. When a new generic drug becomes available, we add it to the Basic Drug List right away. In most cases, we also remove its brand-name counterpart. You can continue to use the brand-name drug, but you will pay 100 percent of our special discounted rates or the pharmacy's charge, whichever is less. Or, with your doctor's approval, you can switch to the generic version and start saving right away.
