S.C. BlueCross Discount Network Adds Wellness Center

Columbia, S.C. -- BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and BlueChoice^® HealthPlan of South Carolina have added Doctors Care’s newly opened Doctors Wellness Center in Columbia to their network of discounted programs.

BlueCross BlueShield and BlueChoice HealthPlan members will receive a savings of up to 25 percent off wellness memberships, personal training, and nutritional counseling and 10 percent off medically developed programs for weight loss, diabetes, hypertension, and cholesterol management at the facility, which is located in Forest Acres.

"Adding the Doctors Wellness Center to our discount programs reflects our continued commitment to add value to a member’s health plan and help our members stay healthy by focusing on preventive care," said Phil Midden, Blue Cross' manager of complementary health programs.  "We have responded to the growing need for wellness services that help reduce stress and prevent illness."

The Doctors Wellness Center joins other fitness centers located statewide in the discount program. Other discount programs available under Natural BlueSM are vision, cosmetic dentistry, hair restoration, weight loss, acupuncture, chiropractic, massage therapy, day spas, vitamins and supplements.

BlueChoice HealthPlan is a wholly owned subsidiary of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina. Headquartered in Columbia, SC, both are independent licensees of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association, an association of independent Blue Cross and Blue Shield Plans.
