S.C. BlueCross BlueShield Adds Consumer Tools Online

Columbia, S.C. -- BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina members now have access to numerous consumer tools and functions in one, easy-to-use, new section of the company’s Web site called My Health Toolkit.

Launched earlier this month, My Health Toolkit offers new functionality not previously available, such as a comparison of health plans and access to a health library.

The new toolkit also consolidates tools and information previously located in several sections of the Web site, www.SouthCarolinaBlues.com. These include a health assessment for employer groups with 50 or more employees, a personal claims history, a hospital comparison tool, a treatment cost estimator, a drug cost comparison, a drug interaction checker, and a doctor finder.

Members can also manage their health reimbursement accounts (HRAs), flexible spending accounts (FSAs) or health savings accounts (HSAs).

"Our new self-help toolkit is designed to help members make the most of their BlueCross coverage and make more informed decisions about their health care," said BlueCross BlueShield Division President David Pankau. "These tools can be used by any of our members but may be especially helpful to those with consumer-driven health plans." BlueCross has a comprehensive portfolio of consumer-driven health plans that are administered alongside more traditional health plans.

Members’ personal information is located within a secure section of My Health Toolkit. The tools are available to BlueCross BlueShield individual and group members, as well as to the State Employees Health Plan, and to members of out of state BlueCross plans served by BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina.

My Insurance Manager is now contained within My Health Toolkit.
