Columbia, S.C. – BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina has launched four new group health plans this month offering more choices to chamber of commerce members statewide. Following a stringent RFP (request for proposal) process administered by the largest chambers in the state, BlueCross was selected as the exclusive provider to promote its specially designed health care products to chambers’ member businesses with 2-99 employees. In addition to the group plans being offered now, a new individual product for members who are not eligible for a group plan will be made available early next year. The group plans, called Business True BlueSM and Business True BlueSM Value Plans, are specially designed group products available to chamber members only. The employer can choose a fixed plan or design a custom plan with optional benefits like a drug card, office visit copayment, vision, dental or supplemental accident. These products also offer the most flexibility in dual option products, including pairing a high deductible health plan with a health savings account or a health reimbursement account, as well as other creative dual option combinations. BlueCross has had a relationship with chambers of commerce in South Carolina since the early ‘90s. Formerly called True Blue® Partnership, the plans have been redesigned and renamed Business True Blue to fall within the company’s overall Blue SpectrumSM products, which is an array of lower cost, competitively priced plans designed for groups and individuals. All BlueCross members in South Carolina benefit from BlueCross’ PPO network, the largest in the state, and Blue Card Worldwide® that allows in-network access to providers in other states served by other Blue Cross and Blue Shield companies. They also may receive discounts for non-covered services such as Lasik, fitness centers and complementary and alternative medicine (massage therapy, acupuncture, vitamins), hearing aids and cosmetic surgery at network providers. Headquartered in Columbia, S.C., BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is an independent licensee of the Blue Cross and Blue Shield Association. BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina and its family of companies include more than 20 subsidiaries involved in health insurance services, U.S. DoD health plan and Medicare contracts, and other insurance and employee benefits services.
