Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) recently implemented regulatory changes related to health care providers and organizations that provide services to Medicare Advantage members. Effective January 1, 2009 and annually thereafter, all organizations, health care providers, etc. that interact with Medicare Advantage members are required to participate in fraud, waste and abuse training. You should be prepared to certify that each employee who provides services or benefits to Medicare Advantage members are trained within 30 days of hire and annually thereafter. While larger organizations or entities may provide training to all affected employees, we recognize that smaller offices may not have access to resources for this training.
