Changes to Boeing Coverage

Beginning January 1, 2011, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Illinois (BCBSIL) will issue new identification (ID) cards to The Boeing Company associates. BCBSIL is the new benefits administrator for The Boeing Company. Regence BlueShield of Washington was the previous administrator.

 
To help ensure that your claims are processed correctly, please remember these guidelines when servicing Boeing associates after January 1, 2011:

ID Cards
The new alpha prefixes are BHP, BCU, BYR or BEM. (All ID cards now have an alpha prefix as part of the member’s ID number.)

Get a photocopy of this new card for the member’s file. See sample ID cards:

To Verify Eligibility and Benefits
Verify eligibility and benefits electronically via My Insurance Manager^SM or call the BlueCard^® Eligibility Line at 800-676-BLUE (2583).

Precertification
Call the telephone number on the back of the patient’s ID card for services requiring precertification.

Claim Submission
Continue to file all claims to BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, using the new alpha prefix – BHP, BCU, BYR or BEM, and the member ID number.

Claim Status
Check claim status electronically via My Insurance Manager^SM or by calling Provider Services at 800-868-2510.
