Evolent Prior Authorization Management Expanding to Include Interventional Cardiovascular and Physical Medicine Services — Effective Dec. 1, 2026

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is committed to keeping providers informed of updates that may impact administrative processes. Please review the information below regarding an expansion of Evolent's prior authorization (PA) management program.

Effective Dec. 1, 2026, Evolent will expand its PA management responsibilities to include select interventional cardiovascular and physical medicine services.

Plans Affected

This change applies to BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, BlueChoice® HealthPlan of South Carolina Commercial/Exchange, and Healthy Blue℠ members.

Services Managed by Evolent

Beginning Dec. 1, 2026, Evolent will manage prior authorization requests for select services related to the following service categories:

  • Cardiac Catheterization and Interventional Cardiology
  • Cardiac Electrophysiology
  • Vascular and Endovascular Interventions
  • Cardiac Surgery
  • Vascular Surgery
  • Physical Medicine (Healthy Blue℠ members only)

The procedures being added to Evolent's management are not new services; however, prior authorization requests for applicable services should be submitted to Evolent for clinical review and determination.

How To Submit Prior Authorization Requests

Beginning Dec. 1, 2026, submit applicable prior authorization requests to Evolent via:

    • 888-642-4810 (For members of BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Publix)

Provider Training

Evolent will host provider training webinars prior to the Dec. 1, 2026, implementation date to review program requirements, authorization submission processes, and available provider resources.
