New Prior Authorization Submission Tool Available—PromptPA™

To provide additional flexibility and enhance the prior authorization (PA) process, PromptPA™ has been added as a new electronic prior authorization submission tool. This web—based platform allows providers to submit, track and manage PA requests online through a secure, streamlined system.
Providers now have two electronic prior authorization submission options available:
- CoverMyMeds®
- PromptPA™
What is PromptPA?
PromptPA is an online prior authorization system that allows users to:
- Submit new prior authorization requests electronically.
- Check the status of existing requests.
- Complete pending authorization requests (when enabled by the health plan).
- Track and manage prior authorizations in one centralized location.
PromptPA is available for use by:
- Prescribing physician and nurse.
- Prescriber’s office.

- Access to drug information through First DataBank™ (FDB) and Medi—Span™ databases.

Getting Started
Providers can access PromptPA directly at bcbssc.promptpa.com to submit new prior authorization requests, monitor existing authorizations and manage pending cases.
Providers and office staff may submit electronic prior authorization requests using either of the following tools:
- CoverMyMeds
- PromptPA (bcbssc.promptpa.com)
Electronic submission remains the preferred method for prior authorization requests whenever available. For additional guidance regarding PromptPA access and requirements, please refer to your health plan's provider resources.
