Advanced Choice Pharmacy Network is a service of Caremark, an independent company that offers pharmacy network and other pharmacy benefit services on behalf of BlueCross.
BlueCross works with a team of health care providers to choose drugs that provide quality treatment. We cover drugs on the Covered Drug List, as long as:
- The drug is medically necessary.
- You fill the prescription at one of our network pharmacies.
- You follow all plan rules.
For more information on how to fill your prescriptions, please review your plan document or other plan materials.

Effective Oct. 1, 2016, all BlueEssentials individual and family plans use the Advanced Choice Pharmacy Network for pharmacy and prescription drug benefits. This network can help you save on prescription costs.
The Advanced Choice network includes access to CVS/pharmacy, Rite Aid, Wal-Mart, Sam's Club, Costco, Kroger, Publix, K-Mart, Long's Drugs, BI-LO and Winn-Dixie pharmacies, plus various other grocers and independent pharmacies. View pharmacies in the Advanced Choice network.
Note: Prescriptions filled at pharmacies outside the Advanced Choice Network are no longer covered by BlueEssentials plans. You will be responsible for the full cost of these prescriptions.
To make this transition, call or visit an in-network pharmacy. Your new pharmacy will help you move your prescriptions.
BlueEssentials members can get vaccinated for the flu, pneumonia and other illnesses at CVS/pharmacy locations across the country at no cost. Just show the pharmacist your member ID card to get started.
If you choose to get an eligible vaccine at a pharmacy other than CVS/pharmacy, the pharmacy may charge you for your vaccination. You will be financially responsible for any amount you are charged for vaccinations administered at a pharmacy other than CVS/pharmacy. These amounts will not apply toward your deductible or out-of-pocket.
Search the Covered Drug List to view eligible vaccines. (Hint: Type "vaccines" in the search bar for a comprehensive list.) Use Caremark's Pharmacy Directory or refer to the network lists to find a CVS/pharmacy near you.
