Building stronger, healthier communities for more than 75 years
At BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina, we care about the places where we work and live. We provide value through our corporate and foundation giving.
We work with our lines of business to support the health and wellness of everyone in our state. Through company donations, sponsorships and employee giving, we team up with nonprofits to help strengthen and grow our communities. We listen to their needs and work to get resources for those who need them most.
Corporate giving
The goal of our corporate giving program is to make life better for all who live in South Carolina. To do this, we aim to:
- Create well-rounded communities.
- Improve health outcomes.
- Make sure people can meet their basic needs.
We know a strong community has many facets. That’s why we support all types of nonprofits — above all, those focused on health and human services. We also give to groups that work in the arts, education, economic development, civic engagement and other causes. These efforts help to create vibrant and diverse communities.
Volunteerism
Our employees’ volunteer service plays a big role in reinforcing our mission and values. When we give our time, we build stronger ties with the people we serve.
In 2024, our team gave 22,927 hours to support nonprofits. That’s equal to $767,825 in value, based on data from Independent Sector, a third-party group that tracks volunteer work. We also:
- Contributed more than 1,300 hours volunteered by more than 300 employees for 26 different nonprofits during our annual Day of Service.
- Donated 545 units of blood to the American Red Cross, saving up to 1,635 lives.
