AOR process — what you need to know

Agents must submit an ICHRA AOR request on company letterhead, signed by an authorized officer or leader of the organization. 

Important — BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina will not move private, individual policies to a new agent. The agent must reenroll the individual during the renewal open enrollment period to become the agent of a private, individual policy. Additionally, BlueCross is not permitted to move federally facilitated marketplace (FFM) policies to a new agent. Lastly, BlueCross will not retroact an AOR or commissions. 

New ICHRA plan submission — timing is everything

Timely submission of ICHRA enrollment paperwork and complete health plan enrollments is a must for a smooth implementation! ICHRA submission paperwork does not enroll an individual in a health plan. Enrollment in an individual policy must be done in addition to submitting the ICHRA installation paperwork. Individual plan enrollments must be submitted before the desired effective date, even if submitted on the first of the month.

Example: An enrollment received July 1, 2023, is keyed as an August 1, 2023, effective date.

Important — BlueCross will not backdate an individual health plan enrollment effective date because of untimely submission beyond the ICHRA effective date. 

New ICHRA sales coordinator

BlueCross recently hired Lisa Posso as the new ICHRA sales coordinator. Lisa is not new to BlueCross. She has been working in Agency Sales for the past eight years. 

ICHRA sales coordinator role and responsibilities
  • Send out health plan enrollment reminders for new ICHRA groups
  • Work as a liaison between agents or groups and AccrueHealth
  • Serve as the main point of contact after installation 
  • Provide assistance with new employee health plan enrollment for existing ICHRA groups
