New Pay-By-Phone Option for BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina Medicare Supplement Members

Medicare Supplement members who are not on bank draft will receive an email Feb. 23, introducing a new pay-by-phone option to pay their BlueCross Medicare Supplement premiums. 

Outlined here and in the member email are sections explaining how the automated system works and important things to note.

How It Works 

  1. Members call the number on the back of their BlueCross member ID cards and press 1 to make a payment.
  2. Select language preference by pressing 1 for English or 2 for Spanish.
  3. Enter the numeric portion of the BlueCross member ID card number and press “#."
  4. Enter the five-digit zip code on the policy and press “#.”
  5. Enter the payment information.
  6. The member will receive a confirmation number for their records.

Important Things To Note 

  • This new pay-by-phone feature is for one-time payments only.
  • Payments made over the phone must be processed with a checking account or credit card.
  • The pay-by-phone option is for Medicare Supplement premium payments only. Members will not be able to pay Medicare Advantage or Part D premiums through the interactive voice response (IVR) system.
  • New members can pay through the IVR system anytime. They do not need to pay during business hours when a customer service representative is available.
