BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina will implement a rate adjustment for its Medicare Supplement members effective June 1, 2026.

We will soon be sending letters to all affected members in several waves. These letters will provide detailed information for each affected block: 

• Pre-MIPPA: Plans effective prior to June 1, 2010
• Post-MIPPA Less Than 75: plans effective June 1, 2010 – Aug. 15, 2018
• Post-MIPPA  More Than 75
• New Block: Plans effective Sept. 1, 2018, to present

Members are encouraged to contact their agent or call the phone number provided in the letter. The agent of record will remain intact if a member calls the retention line. 

Support for Agents
To assist you in managing and serving those affected by the rate adjustment, the new rates will be loaded into BASES by mid-April. You will then be able to view a complete report of your clients' premium information, as in this example.

The adjusted rates are live in Blue Medicare Connect for June 1, 2026, effective dates and beyond. You can also download the updated rate book now on Storefront. 

Please note: New block members in their 12-month rate guarantee window will receive the rate adjustment on their anniversary date.

Member Options
We encourage members to make sure they are receiving all eligible discounts, such as the household discount or auto draft discount.

Additionally, there are lower-cost plan options available for members wishing to consider another BlueCross Medicare Supplement plan. A lower-cost plan may meet their coverage needs while continuing to provide the value of a BlueCross Medicare plan. 

Medicare Supplement members who enrolled with BlueCross on or after June 1, 2010, can move up or down in coverage without underwriting during the annual rate adjustment period. If members wish to adjust their coverage for the June 2026 rate adjustment, a paper application should be submitted to MedSup.Enrollment@bcbssc.com. Applications for guaranteed issue (GI) during this period must be submitted for a June 1 or June 15 effective date. Paper applications are available on Storefront. Please ensure you use the non-underwritten application.
