2023 Winners

They worked hard all year to promote employees’ health and well-being — and now our latest LiveLifeBlue winners have received the recognition they deserve!

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina presented LLB trophies to seven S.C. companies on Wednesday, April 26, at our Major Group Summit. Mike Harris, vice president of sales for our Major Group division, and each of our respective regional directors presented trophies to company representatives at a banquet in the Columbia Marriott.

They praised the companies for their efforts to make a real difference in employees’ quality of life in 2022. Employers were encouraged to start with basic programs — such as maintaining a smoke-free workplace — and add to the BlueCross benefits they offer by creating programs and services meeting the specific needs of their employees.

FN America was the overall winner this year, with two additional honorees in each of three regions.

By the way, nominations will open in January 2024 for organizations vying for next year’s LiveLifeBlue honors. For inspiration, here’s a look at some of the achievements of this year’s winners.

Overall Winner: FN America

The company’s impressive array of benefits and services include a new walking trail, subsidized lunches, free health coaching and free child care. Health services, generic medications and a mobile dental unit were available on site during the pandemic. FN America helped employees make a smooth transition to Strive, the new health and well-being platform, awarding cash and prizes for participation. And a successful diabetes management program helped significant numbers of employees lower their A1C levels, blood pressure and cholesterol.

Charleston Region Winners

City of Newberry

The city found several ways to encourage people to be more active, including special rates on gym memberships. They share health information through their email and intranet. Employees especially appreciate that following health screenings that require a 12-hour fast, they’re provided with a hot, healthful breakfast.

Giant Cement Holding

The company makes good use of the BlueCross Health Hub materials, sharing flyers, posters and infographics with fresh topics every month. They offer two EAPs and promote the convenience of Blue CareOnDemand. And employees enjoy the friendly competition of the company’s on-site health challenges.

Columbia Region Winners

ACS Technologies Group

ACS certainly was in tune with this year’s Summit theme of financial well-being, addressing this area of need with a mortgage assistance program. They maintain a channel where employees share recipes and fitness ideas. And during Mental Health Awareness month, they held sessions in which people could share messages of encouragement.

Savannah River Nuclear Solutions

SRNS also found ways to address financial wellness, including holding quarterly webinars on financial topics. They offer on-site counselors as well as an off-site EAP, and they resumed their wellness fair last year. Their ambitious plans for 2023 include a proposed on-site child care program.

Greenville Region Winners

T&S Brass and Bronze Works

This company has an on-site nurse practitioner and an on-site mental health counselor. Their fitness programs include supplementing YMCA membership fees, and an annual weight loss challenge. Their on-site health clinic averages about 200 patient encounters every month!

Horry Telephone Cooperative

In 2022, the company tackled their employees’ three major health challenges: obesity, hypertension and high cholesterol. Their strategies included lunch and learn sessions for employees and spouses, plus webinars and games. And they rewarded people with perks like kitchen scales, Fitbits, walking shoes and gift cards.

Thanks to all our LiveLifeBlue nominees! We look forward to seeing what you will accomplish for your employees — our valued BlueCross members — this year.
