Prior Authorization for DME and Home Health, Efftective Aug. 1, 2026

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina is pleased to announce a new collaboration with Integrated Home Care Services (IHCS) to support the coordination and delivery of durable medical equipment (DME) and home health services for our Commercial small group and individual plans, to include our Affordable Care Act (Marketplace) plans.This includes group number prefixes 61, 62, 64 and 65.

Effective August 1, 2026, all DME and Home Health services will require prior authorization through IHCS.

How to Submit Requests

Providers are encouraged to submit requests to IHCS through multiple convenient electronic channels:

  • Hospital Discharge Planning Platforms: WellSky CarePort or CarePort
  • Provider Portals: Availity Essentials and Parachute Health

Providers are encouraged to use these platforms to submit referrals electronically.

Alternative Submission Option

If your facility does not use any of the platforms listed above, please contact IHCS to arrange an alternative submission method.

You may also fax prescriptions, medical orders, or discharge documentation directly to IHCS at 844-215-4265.
