Remittance Advice Remark Code (RARC) N382: Missing/Incomplete/Invalid Patient Identifier

BlueCross BlueShield of South Carolina coordinates with other Blue Plans when members’ prefixes have recently changed. We monitor claims for the N382 denial and resubmit these claims with the correct prefix on your behalf.
What does this mean?
This denial is generated when a claim is submitted with a prefix that is no longer valid.
What should you do?
BlueCross will resubmit the claim on your behalf with the correct prefix. It is not necessary for you to inquire on this denial or resubmit the claim. Monitor remittances and make note of the correct prefix and submit future claims with the correct prefix.
